Deeper Wells. Higher Pressures. Zero Downtime.
The easy oil is gone. Today’s extraction happens in environments that destroy standard materials. When you are drilling at 20,000 PSI in a sour gas field, or operating a subsea manifold 3,000 meters underwater, material failure is not an maintenance issue—it is a catastrophic event.
LAYRR Materials supplies the metallurgy required to survive the downhole environment. We provide NACE-compliant superalloy and carbide powders that allow operators to print complex flow-control devices, rapidly replace obsolete rig components, and harden tools against extreme erosion.
The Additive Advantage in O&G
The industry is moving from "Warehousing" to "Digital Inventory."
1. Complex Fluid Dynamics
Standard valves have sharp angles that create turbulence and erosion. Additive Manufacturing (AM) allows engineers to print "organic" flow paths that optimise fluid dynamics, reducing pressure drop and minimising sand erosion in choke valves and manifolds.
2. Rapid Spare Parts (The Digital Rig)
An offshore rig costs hundreds of thousands of dollars per day. Waiting 12 weeks for a cast valve body is unacceptable. With LAYRR powders and an industrial printer, critical spares can be produced on-shore (or even off-shore) in days, dramatically reducing non-productive time (NPT).
3. Hard-Facing & Repair
Drill strings wear out. Instead of scrapping expensive stabilisers and drill bits, service companies use Directed Energy Deposition (DED) with LAYRR Tungsten Carbide or Stellite® powders to re-clad and harden worn surfaces, extending tool life by 3x.
Critical Materials for the Oilfield
We stock the grades engineered for Sour Service (H2S) and abrasive environments.
Corrosion Resistant Alloys (CRA)
-
Inconel® 718 (API 6A718): The workhorse of the oilfield. Exceptional strength and corrosion resistance for downhole packers, hangers, and gate valves.
-
Inconel® 625: Superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Ideal for weld-overlays (cladding) on cheaper steel substrates to provide a corrosion-resistant barrier.
-
Duplex / Super Duplex Stainless Steel: High strength and excellent resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking in subsea saltwater environments.
Wear & Erosion Resistance
-
Tungsten Carbide (WC-Co): The hardest material available for AM. Used in metal matrix composites for drill bits and cutting structures.
-
Stellite® 6 (CoCrW): A cobalt-based alloy essential for valve seats and bearings that face metal-on-metal galling and high-heat sliding wear.
Structural & General
-
17-4 PH Stainless Steel: For gate valves, stems, and structural components requiring high hardness.
-
4340 Low Alloy Steel: High toughness material for structural repair of heavy rig equipment.
The LAYRR Standard: NACE & API
In Oil & Gas, a datasheet isn't enough. You need compliance.

NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156:
We understand the strict chemistry and hardness limits required for materials in H2 (sour gas) service. Our Inconel 718 and 625 powders are chemically verified to ensure they meet the specific composition requirements to prevent Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC).
